May Beauty Empties

May Beauty Empties || Musings of a Gossip

I always get soooo excited when I actually finish a product. To be honest, I waste so much money because 99% of the time, I give away a beauty product before I used it up. My friends benefit greatly because they get my leftovers...but my wallet always feels guilty! I made a promise to myself in 2018 that I was going to finish every product before I give it away. I don't have money to waste! (I admittedly have failed a few times...)

Oh dear...I truly can't believe how quickly time is flying by! By the time I realize'll be Christmas!! It's almost time to celebrate July 4th! Insane.

Anyway...another month and another batch of of used up beauty products! I don't have too many products this month but I'll still share the deeds on how everything went...

1. Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet Foundation: I’m obsessed with everything Chanel...their makeup is amazing and their skincare is as well. Despite having sensitive skin and for Chanel beauty to be heavily fragranced...for some reason it doesn’t bother my skin! It’s amazing quality! I have gone through a few bottles of the Perfection Lumiere Velvet (I wear shade 30) and it’s one of my favorites. It’s lightweight, smells amazing, keeps my face matte and is perfect to use all year long. I will definitely continue to purchase this one and I love how easily buildable it is. I also love how the small plastic bottle is easy to travel with and you don’t have to worry about it breaking! There’s only one’s $50 a bottle and it only lasts me about two months if I use it everyday. I try to buy it at Macy’s or Lord and Taylor when they offer 15% off but it’s still a pretty penny. For me, it’s totally work the price though because it’s pricey to deal with a full acne breakout! I also love the Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation. You can’t go wrong with either one.

2. Avar: This cleanser is from my dermatologist and it’s my second bottle. I already filled my prescription for a third refill. Summer is brutal on my skin. (July on a NYC subway isn’t what my skin likes.) No matter how hard I try...dirt, oil, sweat, and whatever other bad stuff clogs my pores and makes me breakout. Sulfur is an old school trick to keeping your face clear. It tends to dry out my skin so I only use it every other day. It’s a must have for me. Plus it’s $20 after my insurance is billed so it’s reasonably priced and I know it works. They do offer different levels of strength but I use 10% sodium sulfacetamide and 5% sulfur. I used to use Plextion cleanser which is the same thing but for some reason the price increased to $250 with my insurance. Ask your pharmacist to help you find alternatives if one brand is too expensive.

3. Giorgio Armani Neo Nude Compact Foundation: I’m obsessed with this and use it as a setting powder. It gives my skin this flawless glowing look. I instantly think of JLo! Glowy and dewy in an amazing way. (Not sweaty at all) It also adds the slightest hint of color (I wear shade #3)...BUT major downside...I’ve only had this compact for about a month and there’s only like a three days worth left. I don’t think I’m overusing because I get SOOO many compliments and no one says I look cakey. I’m holding off on repurchasing unless I have a super crazy special event to attend. This powder also doesn’t make me break out which is a plus...but due to budget reasons, I think I’ll stick to the loose powder version. It creates the same look but has lasted me longer than a month! Have any of you tried it? I would love to know your thoughts.

4. Clindamycin 1% Gel: This is another prescription product from my dermatologist and I’m obsessed. I tried going a few months without my dermatologist prescription meds and my skin was a mess. I do prefer the lotion version over the gel version because I feel the gel makes me look more oily. So I use this product in the morning under my makeup. It helps to keep pores from getting clogged and it kills bacteria. It’s not an overnight fix but after 30 days of use, I noticed the difference.

Let's see what I can use up in June!
