2020 New Years’ Resolutions

Hello darlings!

It’s nice and snowy here in NYC.

I’ve been thinking of some New Year’s Resolutions and I thought I would share…here we go:

  1. I will get better about saving money! I know I say this every year but now I really mean it. Hahaha. I want to save up for a house so it’s time I get serious about my finances.
  2. I will only purchase cruelty free beauty products from now on. I really have been tossing and turning about this one. After finishing Accutane, my skin has been perfect and I am so afraid of messing it up. I want my skin to stay the same but I also have to follow my heart with this one. I have been going back and forth for years now about clean beauty. After suffering from migraines for so many years, I really need to look into every product I use more and start cleaning out the toxins. I know people go back and forth and say there’s nothing to worry about BUT I do notice a change in myself. I used the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation and wham…migraine out of nowhere. When I looked at the ingredients…BHT is known to trigger migraines in some people. Parabens have been said to mimic hormones. I know people have their own opinions but if I can be healthier…why not? We’ll see how this clean journey goes...
  3. Migraines…they have been really bad this year. I need to keep better track of my diet and really get my stuff together. I know there’s no guarantee and no one really knows what causes migraines but at this point…I really need to true. I can’t keep going through the pain and leaving work and missing out on life.
  4. Relax more! It’s time for less stress, more vacations, and great people in my life.
  5. Balance! I can be a pretty extreme person which gets me into trouble…I need to be more in the gray area and not so black and white!

I still can’t believe it’s almost 2020! Insane! I’m still in July mode!

My Everyday Makeup Routine

Hello darlings!!!

I thought it would be the perfect time for a makeup routine update! When I was on Accutane (and throughout all my acne years), it was easier for me to learn what products I DID NOT like. And boy were there many!!!

My skin is just super sensitive and it funny because the products they tell me will break me out don’t and the “natural” products…do. I’ll chat more about that later.

My makeup routine pretty much stays the same with the exception of a few new things here and there. I always want to try new products and then end up hating them and going back to my original. I’m not wasting any more money! So here we go..

  1. Sunscreen: I wear sunscreen everyday no matter what. I needed to when I was on Accutane but it’s also so important for both health and aging reasons! I wear Elta MD Clear Sunscreen
  2. Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation #6.5 or Chanel oil-free foundation #BD41 or #BR42. I use a few different Chanel foundations and they all pretty much work for me as long as they are oil-free. I prefer Armani because I feel like their shades are more natural looking on me. Chanel is getting better than they were a few years ago but still…they can still do more work on their shades.
  3. Charlotte Tilbury shade #3 concealer or YSL Touche Eclat concealer #3. I like the CT concealer and will repurchase but I had to play around with different setting powders for this one. I was using the CT Flawless Finish powder but it was making my eyes tear and my concealer was melting off by noon. I use my trusty Laura Mercier Translucent Powder to set my under eyes.
  4. Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Finish Powder in shade #2 medium to set my entire face. I get so many compliments because of this stuff.
  5. Chanel Les Beiges Sheer Powder in shade #30 for my bronzer. I think it’s a little too light in the shade but it does give a natural look. I look a little warmer without looking like Kim K.
  6. Giorgio Armani blush but it has been discontinued. I will go back to my Chanel blush in shade #80 Jersey.
  7. Eyeshadow changes around a bit. I use Nars cream shadow sticks in Goddess and then go with Chanel palette #226 Tisse Rivoli. In the New Year I will probably simplify my eye makeup routine a bit.
  8. I use Hourglass mascara at the moment because it was a free sample but I am not loyal to any. I think I will go back to drugstore. I do prefer dark brown mascaras!
  9. I use Stila and Urban Decay eyeliners to line upper and lower lids. I am really liking the dark brown shades. They look a bit more natural.
  10. Victoria Beckham x Estee Lauder highlighter in Modern Mercury: I have been using this for at least 3 years. It’s a limited edition but not going anywhere. I am obsessed.
  11. I use Drybar hairspray on a toothbrush for my brows. I used to use expensive eyebrow gels but this is way cheaper.

That’s it! That’s my everyday makeup routine. I do not wear makeup if I am not going to work. I let my skin breathe and give it a break. I will be removing some things come new year or as I finish up products. I am trying to simplify!!!

Happy Friday and my skincare routine will be coming up next!

Enjoy your weekend!!

Final Accutane Update

Hello darlings!!!

I am SUPER excited to say that I completed my 6 month course of Accutane! Looking back, it went by quickly BUT throughout the process, it has been super slow. The last two months were extremely mentally difficult for me. In the beginning, I had minor side effects such as extremely dry lips. That’s pretty much all I had for the first 4 months. Once I entered into month 5…oh dear!

I experienced…

  • Dry eyes causing tearing. I had to stop wearing eye makeup.
  • Joint pain and extreme back pain. It would take me a few moments to get up from the sofa.
  • Blurred vision which caused me to fall down a flight of stairs
  • Skin peeling (especially my ears)
  • Mental side effects such as anger, irritable, depression, anxiety, and feeling of being overwhelmed. This started to cause major issues in my personal life.
  • Severe sun sensitivity
  • Skin rashes and sensitives

My dermatologist was great but he told me the only side effect would be dry lips. FALSE. I was traveling to Disney when I was finishing the last of my pills. I had a few extra days’ worth as an emergency stash but I started getting headaches. I just threw them away. 2 extra days wasn’t going to make a difference. I couldn’t take it anymore. During the last week, as soon as I would take a pill, I would instantly feel the difference with myself.

Do I have any regrets about taking Accutane? No. I get compliments on my skin daily. Would I do it again? 100% NOT. I also would tell anyone to speak with their doctor before starting this treatment. It is also an exhausting process between all the bloodwork and doctor visits.

I have never felt this happy with my skin before and I firmly believe this was my only option….BUT it was majorly difficult on my body and mental health.

I am sooo happy with my skin and I am even more happier it’s over….

I did it.

Week 26 Accutane Update

Hello darlings,

Long time no chat. Today marks 26 weeks since I’ve been on Accutane. I have 9 days to go and I cannot wait. These last two months should have been smooth sailing but it certainly has been not. It is starting to take a mental toll on me and I wasn’t expecting that.

I have no regrets but recently I have noticed I have been more emotional and depressed. My skin is absolutely flawless. Every single day I get compliments on my face. People always ask me what I am doing because my skin is the best they have ever seen from anyone. It’s so rewarding after going through so many years of cystic acne that made me insecure and paranoid about my looks. Part of me is actually fearful of finishing my course of Accutane because I do not want the breakouts to come back. But the other part of me knows IT IS time.

This week has been the worst yet. A minor situation occurred and I spent my evening crying, paranoid and having panic attacks. I was totally acting irrational and have no way of controlling it.

I do experience breakouts still if I put something new on my face and my skin isn’t liking it. I am still SUPER sensitive. For example: I went to Charlotte Tilbury to buy a new concealer. The saleslady applied Wonder Glow Primer on my face beforehand and by the end of the night…I had small bumps.

The last two nights, I have also been getting small bumps on my face…almost like clogged pores. I am not sure if I am going too heavy on my makeup and maybe my skin isn’t liking something. The foundation and Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Finishing Powder are the only two things I have changed. After I finish everything I have…I am going back to my mix of Armani and Chanel and calling it a day.

I will write updated posts on makeup and skincare I am currently using. Nothing has really changed by much. I am keeping my routine as simple and consistent as possible. It’s important.

After this long and difficult Accutane journey, I have absolutely no desire to go through this all again. I can’t.

It doesn’t seem like a lot but monthly bloodwork, monthly dermatologist visits, monthly pharmacy pickups, and taking pills twice per day as completely taken its toll on me.

Next Saturday morning, I will be more than happy to be saying goodbye to my list Accutane pill.

xx

Week 22 Accutane Update

Hello darlings!

Long time no chat! I have enjoyed every single second of summer. September was so amazing for me! I went to South Carolina and spent my time at the beach and Charleston. Charleston is a wonderful city...so much beauty and history!!! It was the perfect way to end summer. The cherry on top!

On another note, I’m down to my last month of accutane!!!! Wooooo hoooo! I can’t believe it’s almost over. I decided to do a six month course. It’s usually 5 months but the first month my insurance only covered the generic version so I wanted to do 5 full months of the name brand version.

I’m so excited to almost be done. Some side effects? My lips are swollen and no matter what I do...they are peeling big time!!!! Also, I’m peeling all over my body and especially my legs. Not sure if it’s due to dryness or the sun from South Carolina.

My skin has also become a lot more sensitive. I’m having a lot more skin reactions. I used a goat milk soap and I got rashes. I used Nars Sheer Glow foundation and I got breakouts. I’ll be sticking to Armani and Chanel from now on.

I’ll be doing a beauty/skincare product rundown soon!

I can’t believe it’s almost October! Crazy!!

Week 17 Accutane Update

Hello darlings!!!

Hope you all had a great weekend! I can’t believe it’s late August! I never want summer to end!

On a different note, I’m almost done with accutane! Just two more weeks! Yay!

I feel like almost all of my side effects started after month 4! Just a few updates...I had to change my makeup routine. I just wasn’t getting the look I wanted with my old routine...I’m mostly using Nars products now so I’ll share my picks soon.

What size effects have I started experiencing? Back pain is pretty bad and has stopped me from going to the gym. My eyes tear all the time! I stopped wearing mascara and a lot of eye makeup. It ruins my whole day!

My skin isn’t too dry expect under my eyes. Migraines have also come back...I’m really increasing my water so hopefully this goes away!

Hopefully no more new side effects and my last two months will be a breeze.

Happy Monday!

Update! Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

Hello darlings! I’m holding onto summer for as long as I can! I hope it never ends!

Anyways...I have an update regarding Too Faced’s Born This Way foundation. Unfortunately, I had to return it. I know it sounds super weird but I started getting headaches. I’m not sure if it was a specific ingredient but anytime I would wear it, I would start getting a headache and I even got one migraine. Nothing else really changed in my routine except for my foundation. I read that BHT can give some people migraines and this foundation has this ingredient in it.

So I switched over back to Armani’s Luminous Silk and Nars’ Sheer Glow and haven’t had one headache.

End result? Sad to say but I’m going to stay away from this one! I loved the coverage. I loved the finish. I love the price. I didn’t love the headaches.

Have you ever experienced headaches from your makeup?

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Lessons I've Learned From Acne

Hello darlings!

Just a few thoughts I wanted to share. Maybe a little venting! Hahahaaa.

  1. Stop Switching Products: I know this may seem obvious but I am so easily influenced by social media and YouTube and I shouldn’t be. When my acne was at its worst…I would always watch YouTube and end up switching my beauty products every 2 to 3 weeks. This became a cycle for years and ended up driving me crazy! I was doing terrible things to my skin! My dermatologist taught me…consistency is key. It’s so important for your skin to adjust and get used to products so it doesn’t react. Obviously there’s a difference if you’re allergic to a product but try to give it a month or two before chucking it.
  2. Learn about Ingredients: I never used to reach the back of any bottle! I had NO idea what ingredients were or what they would do to my skin. It’s important to pay attention. I usually use over-the-counter products but I mix it up with medical grade. Nothing will ever beat retin- a from your doctor.
  3. Facials are Key: Take care of your skin and clean it out! I get monthly facials and they are super important. BUT it’s important to find the right specialist using good products.
  4. Stop Listening to People: At the end of the day, listen to your doctor and follow their lead. I listened to so many people and ended up confusing myself and making a mess out of my skin! It’s time, money, and your skin!
  5. It’s Worth Figuring It Out: Fixing your skin issues will take time and it effects every area of your life. I feel like my acne took over my life!! Just take a breath and calm down…it takes time but with the right guidance…it will get better.

What have you learned during your acne journey? xx

My Current Makeup Routine

My makeup routine drives me crazy. On one hand, I pretty much use the same products over and over again and yet on the other hand, I am always trying new things. Pretty much…I am always trying new things and end up coming back to my old product. Lol.

The one thing I really struggle to find is a foundation I am happy with. Trying to find the perfect foundation is like trying to find the foundation of youth. It’s soooo difficult. I am oily and I love full coverage. I love my Armani but it’s not working for me during the summer. It slides off my face. It is amazing for special occasions but doesn’t really hold up for a 16 hour work day. So based on the recommendation of a Sephora rep, I bought Too Faced’s Born This Way foundation and it’s perfect….but I think it may be breaking me out…I am going to give it two more weeks. I am definitely going to keep the bottle I’ve been using but I will return the new bottle I ordered as well as the powder version. Anyway….here’s my current makeup routine:

  1. Armani’s Luminous Silk Foundation or Too Faced’s Born This Way: I love both but I probably won’t be repurchasing either one. Foundation is impossible. Armani is super expensive and doesn’t last all day… Too Faced may be breaking me out…wondering if I should go back to the BareMinerals Original Foundation…
  2. Chanel concealer: this is my 2ndor 3rdof this concealer. I switch between this and the YSL. I love both and highly recommend.
  3. Armani Blush: I usually use a Chanel blush but I like this one as well. It lasts all the day and looks natural. I think Armani discontinued their blushes though so I’ll probably go back to Chanel.
  4. Chanel Les Beiges Sheer Powder in Shade 30: this is my 2ndor 3rdtime purchasing. I use this as bronzer and it’s perfect. It looks so natural on my skin and I’m not overdone.
  5. Armani Cream Shadow in Rose Ashes: this is my 2ndtime purchasing. I love it and it’s so easy to use but they recently changed the packaging on this one. Now it won’t even last me two months! I am almost finished. I recommend this one to someone who doesn’t wear makeup every day.
  6. Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Finish Powder: I won’t be repurchasing this. It’s perfect for setting your makeup and under eyes but it’s too light for me. (I bought shade medium) I look like a ghost when I wear this. I am so disappointed because this is perfect for traveling and doesn’t make a mess.
  7. Stila eyeliner: I have used this eyeliner for years. I just use on my lids and it’s so natural. Love it.
  8. Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder: I have been using this since 2015. It’s great and I will definitely be repurchasing. Too bad that it can get a bit messy….
  9. Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham Modern Mercury Highlighter: I am OBSESSED with this. It’s almost 3 years old but I love it so much. It’s almost at the end of its life. I wish I had a backup and I never purchased another highlighter since I bought this one. It’s natural with a pop. I get SO much compliments. VB is coming out with a makeup line in the Fall. I hope she includes this highlighter.
  10. Lancome Hypnose Drama Full Body Volume Mascara: This mascara isn’t my fave. I know Lancome makes a good mascara but this one is clumpy. I’ll try something else next time.
  11. Bareminerals loose eyeshadow in Finesse- I love bareminerals loose eyeshadows. They are so pigmented and last forever. I like them better than the pressed version! I already have a backup!

That’s it for now! I don’t see anything changing except my foundation…

Happy Wednesday!!

Every Breath You Take by Mary Higgins Clark

Hello darlings! I listened to my first audiobook! Of course it had to be from my favorite author...Mary Higgins Clark. A little backstory...I’m always stuck in traffic when traveling back Upstate to my family’s house...sometimes it can take me up to 5 hours!! So my best friend recommended I start listening to audiobooks to make the drive go faster. Surprisingly, I LOVED it. I think you have to find the right book with the right reader but overall I’m a fan! It makes driving not so bad!

Every Breath You Take is the 5th book from the Under Suspicion series. Laurie Moron is a tv producer and her show solves cold cases. They go back into the past and interview everyone who knew the victim.

This crime happened at The Met Gala (my absolute fave) Virginia Wakefield is a very wealthy widow which a younger personal trainer boyfriend. Her adult children aren’t too happy about rumors of them marrying. Virginia also had a bitter nephew and other potential suspects. When so much money is involved...anyone can kill.

There were a lot of twists and turns and I love how all the stories in this series continue from where the last left off. It’s great to really know your characters. Each character grows and you develop a stronger attachment to them.

I was a little disappointed by the ending of this book though. I think they could have wrapped it up better and explained what happened to other characters a bit better. But overall a great summer read.

I can’t wait until the next book!

Week 14 Accutane Update

Hello Darlings!

Happy Monday and hope you all had wonderful weekends! I never want summer to end! I have decided!!

So I have another Accutane update for you…it’s amazing that after 14 weeks…I actually do have some changes! Hahaha. My legs are starting to peel! I still don’t have much dryness of my face but my legs are definitely peeling. The right bottle leg more so. Who knew my body would get dry!

Also, my eyes are becoming more sensitive. After having pain and tearing from my right eye, I stopped wearing the new Lancôme mascara and the tearing has stopped! I am using a sample of Chanel mascara and it’s working great. I am still on the fence if I should try a drugstore mascara or just go back to Chanel….

My lips are really getting dry! They swell and crack and bleed! I am trying everything and so far nothing is working. Any recs are most welcomed!!

My nails are still brittle and hurt when I get my nails done. I am going to switch over to manicures soon once summer is over and I am not in water so much.
I have pretty much kept my skincare and beauty routine the same. Well a few minor changes to foundation (now using Too Faced’s Born This Way in Warm Beige) and using Amore Pacific’s powder cleanser. Everything else has stayed the same…

Only 2 and a half more months to go!!!

Have a great week

Review: Too Faced Born This Way

Happy August darlings!

I can’t even believe I am saying Happy August. I want time to slow down because I absolutely love summer and never want it to end. I never want the cold to get here!

Anyway…I know I probably shouldn’t be trying new products since I am on Accutane but foundation is #1 for me and its been impossible for me to find one that I absolutely love. I love full coverage makeup. I keep trying to be that “natural” beauty but it’s not for me. I love looking flawless at all times. So about two weeks ago, I walked into Sephora asking about IT Cosmetics CC cream and leaving with a sample. The rep told me about Too Faced Born This Way foundation. (I wear shade Warm Beige since I'm tan from summer) I have never tried anything by Too Faced except mascara and eyeshadow. (I loved the eyeshadow but hated the Better Than Sex mascara) She said it had good ingredients and hydration from coconut water which is important for patients on Accutane. I figured I had nothing to lose and walked out with a sample. I tried it out for a few days and no breakouts! Thank goodness as I head into month 4, my purging stage is over!! I did try my beloved Estee Lauder Double Wear again and started getting bumps. I just don’t think that’s the foundation for me. But I was pleasantly shocked by Born This Way! Full coverage, matte, and no breakouts! Win, win, win!

So pros of this foundation?
  • They offer a wide range of shades- they offer 35 shades.
  • The bottle comes with a pump! Wooo hooo it’s so much easier to disperse!
  • Affordable compared to my Armani and Chanel. It’s $39 a bottle which a pricey but thank goodness way cheaper than what I’ve been using. I am waiting for Ulta to have 20% off so I can stock up
  • The glass bottle is super luxe! I don’t feel like the packaging is cheap since it’s less expensive than Armani
  • I don’t use primer!! Yay! Another save for me!

The cons?
  • I am not sure if I look orange. My bff tried this foundation and she said it oxidized to an orange shade. I also read reviews online and people said the same thing. Currently I am really tan so I don’t notice the orange look…
  • Sometimes I get itchy. I am not sure if my skin is dry from the meds but sometimes I have to scratch my face
  • Such a minor thing because my Armani is the same way but my bottle isn’t thin enough to fit into my makeup acrylic drawer with my other makeup.

Final call: I will definitely use up this bottle. EVERYONE has been telling me how flawless my face looks and part of that credit goes to my foundation. Also, I love that it’s better priced than Chanel or Armani. I am looking to budget!! I will also try the matching concealer. Honesty I am on the fence between this and Nars but I think I will stick with this since my skin hasn’t really reacted to it. I also heard from a few people that this has better ingredients and doesn’t get as cakey as Nars.

Have you tried Too Faced’s Born This Way? xx

Week 13 Accutane Update

Hello loves!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I was at The Met yesterday and walked through the “Camp: Notes on Fashion” exhibit. It was brilliant and I’m obsessed! Yesterday was the perfect day!

Anyway here’s to another Accutane update. I took a little break because I really didn’t have any updates. I was purging like crazy and had cystic pimples large enough to look like bug bites. It was horrible. It didn’t matter what makeup or skincare products I used. I really thought Accutane wasn’t working for me.

Thank goodness I started to see real improvement around three and a half months. It has really just been two weeks since my skin started behaving. The only thing I changed was my foundation. I’m now using Too Faced Born this way. All other products have stayed the same.

I’m still not sure if I’m going to extend treatment by a month but this treatment isn’t a quick fix. Three and a half months have been a skin mess but things are starting to look up!

Enjoy your week! ❤️

July Used Up Beauty Products

Hello darlings! I don’t even understand how time is passing by this quickly! It’s insane!!!

Since I’m on Accutane...I haven’t really been trying any new beauty products except foundation. Is a good foundation impossible to find???? I’m unhappy with everything!  Every single product used up is an oldie for me and I’ve used before! Anyway...here’s my July empties!

1. IT Cosmetics Confidence in an Eye Cream: I’m obsessed with this eye cream since I started using it over a year ago. I have gone through 4 of these and already have a new backup! I can’t be without it. It doesn’t make me breakout and it’s so hydrating. I only use it at night though...I have recommended it to so many people...it’s a must.

2.  CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion: I love this for my face and whole body. It has no scent, doesn’t make me breakout, doesn’t trigger a migraine and is super hydrating. I’ll probably never stop using this. I love how easy it is to use since it has a pump.

3. Chanel La Solution 10 de Chanel: This is my second bottle. I started using this more recently on my face since Accutane has really been keeping breakouts at bay but usually I just use on my neck and chest. This formula was created for sensitive skin and has no fragrance. As we know, Chanel products usually have fragrance...so this is a bit difference. Also, it’s pricey at $110 but it lasted me almost an entire year! I will definitely repurchase.

4. Chanel Les Beiges Sheer Powder in Shade 30: So when I was originally sold this powder, the salesperson told me it was a setting powder. I stopped using it because it keep making me look orange! After going to a Chanel counter at Nordstrom, I was told it was a bronzer! That’s why I was turning orange! So this is shade 30...I would probably go a shade darker. So I’ll purchase shade 40. There’s only one thing holding me back from repurchasing...the fragrance. Sometimes when I’m having a headache or a migraine...the smell sets me off...but it doesn’t make me breakout. I’ll probably repurchase because I’m too lazy to try something new...should I try Hourglass?

And that’s it! Hopefully I’ll have more empties next month!

Have a great weekend! ❤️

My NSale Beauty Picks

Hello darlings!

I shopped the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale last Friday and picked up a few goodies! Below are all my purchases :)

1. Lancôme Bi-Facil Eye Makeup Remover: I’m usually not loyal to an eye makeup remover. I just went through 5 bottles of Chanel eye makeup remover so since this is on sale, I figured I would pick this up. It’s important for me to use a good eye makeup remover because I wear a lot of eye liner and mascara and I don’t want to age my eyes by tugging when I’m trying to remove my makeup. I want something easy and effective so my eyes stay looking young!

2. BeautyBlender Makeup Sponge Set: To be honest, I go back and forth with the beautybender. I get concerned about bacteria building since I have bad skin issues, but I love the natural looks it when applying my foundation. This is such a great price though that I needed to pick it up! I also love the cover so my makeup bag doesn’t get dirty! Plus it’s glitter...you can’t go wrong!

3. Donna Karen Cashmere Mist Deodorant: I have been using this deodorant for the past year now. Nothing else works like this. I used to use Always roll on deodorant for 15 years but then it stopped working for me. Cashmere Mist got me through 100 degree weather at Disney World! So this three piece set will last me until the next Anniversary Sale.

4. Slip for Beauty Sleep Silk Pillowcases: I’ve been wanting to try these for the past year! They help prevent wrinkles, frizzy hair and acne! Let’s see how it does! They are still a bit pricey but hopefully they work!

5. La Mer Mini Miracles Set: I have heard soooo many great things about this brand. I really wanted to try the moisturizer. Before spending hundreds of dollars, its get to try mini versions. La Mer is an investment. Sooo many celebrities use it as well. Come on La Mer! Save me from wrinkles!

Have you shopped the Sale yet?

Enjoy the weekend!!! ❤️

Oxygenetix Oxygenating Foundation Review

Hi darlings,

Long time now chat! I’m now almost 12 weeks into Accutane and finally so much has changed. I’m finally starting to feel better about my skin...more on that later.

I’m sharing my review about Oxgenetix foundation. This was recommended by my dermatologist. I know it has a huge celebrity fan base and as soon as I started wearing this foundation, I have never received as many compliments on my skin and I did when I got this.

Pros:

1. It’s anti-aging foundation! So many beneficial ingredients.

2. Created by doctors!

3. It won’t clog your pores so it won’t make me breakout.

4. Most importantly...it’s vegan.

5. I love that it’s oil-free

6. It comes with a pump! My beloved Estée Lauder Double Wear and my Nars Sheer Glow are pricey and don’t come with pumps. I always end up pouring out too much.

Cons:

1. It’s super expensive! It’s $66 for a half an ounce! That’s have the size of a traditional foundation. Sorry but I don’t earn Kourtney Kardashian’s paycheck.

2. The shade range isn’t great. I have to mix colors.

3. It takes a few layers to build up full coverage and with the hefty price tag, you’ll go through an entire bottle in less than a month.

4. It’s not easily accessible to buy. You can’t just run out to Sephora or Ulta. You need to by directly from their site, certain spas or Dermstore. So it’ll take a bit of time! You most stock up so you don’t run out.

Final verdict: Would I purchase this foundation again? Probably not. It’s not because I hate it though. It’s purely because of the price tag and the amount of product I need to use in order to achieve the perfect look. Again, I received SOOOOO many compliments but I can’t justify the price. It was worth a shot though....

Book Review: You Don’t Own Me by Mary Higgins Clark & Alafair Burke

I absolutely love love love Mary Higgins Clark books. And movies too! I have been reading her books since I was 17! I don’t remember how I discovered them but I love her storytelling and the relatable characters. I’m also from New York so many of her stories take place in places I know. That’s always fun! Her latest book lived up to my expectations and it would be the perfect beach read. You won’t be able to put it down...

Laurie Moran is the lead character and she’s a television producer of Under Suspicion. This is the fifth book in the series. Her television show tries to solve cold cases with the participation of family and friends of the victims. So far the show has a perfect track record at solving cases.

A celebrity doctor was murdered and his wife is the #1 suspect. They haven’t been able to prove she killed her husband but his parents (total Manhattan socialites) make it well know they believe their daughter in law to have killed their son. Lots of plot twists in this story...We hear from senators, judges and former patients of the doctor. Everyone’s a suspect and everyone has something to hide.

Laurie gets helping solving these crimes from her federal judge fiancé Alex, former NYPD police commissioner dad, and her tv assistants, Grace and Jerry.

This book was fun and entertaining from beginning to end. I highly recommend this easy read and I can’t wait for the next book in the series! I would love for them to start making her books into movies again!

Have you read any Mary Higgins Clark books?

Week Seven Accutane Update

Hello darlings! Hope you all had a wonderful Father’s Day weekend. I spent the weekend back Upstate with my family. ❤️

I absolutely cannot believe I’ve been on accutane for seven weeks. It’s kinda crazy how quickly time flies by. I have no no no regrets about going on this medication. I’m NOT recommending it to anyone and it’s important to have many many many conversations with your doctor but so far,  very pleased.

My face is starting to getting the slightest bit drier but nothing I can’t handle. I’m using IT Cosmetics oil free moisturizer. The only other thing I’ve changed up is my foundation. I don’t know why foundation is so hard to find!

I’m currently using oxgenetix foundation because my spa and dermatologist highly recommended it. But there’s one huge problem...the price. It’s $66 for a half an ounce! The bottle literally lasts less than 3 weeks. I may have to go back to my Chanel...I’ll let you know.

Besides that, so far so good!

Have a wonderful week!
